This is the first posts!
Firstly, I introduce “Oomiwa shrine” in Nara.
Inside the premises, there are some small shrines.
I will introduce many spots in Oomiwa shrines over some posts.
Oomiwa shrine entrance
On the entrance of this shrine, there is so big symbol!
Do you know?
It’s so big “torii”
“Torii” distinguish sacred place and our world.

The height of this torii is over 30m!
It’s so impressive!
This is built about 40years ago.
This torii is a little bit far from main area of Oomiwa shrine, so if you go, you have to walk about 10minutues from main area.
Worship hall
When you go straight in main road of this shrine, there is “Worship hall”.
“Worship hall” is called ”Haiden” in Japanese.
When I visit, many people were lined to wait for praying.
This is built in 1664, and many sculptures exist in worship hall.
It’s so magnificent and we can feel holly atmosphere.
Especially in January, it is so crowded because of “Hatsumode”.
“Hatsumode” means “first visit to the shrine in New Year”

Horry Cedar Trees
Near Worship hall, there is a big Horry cedar tree.
It is called “The Holly Cedar Tree of Snake.”
The snake is enshrined as deity of Oomiwa shrine.
On this cedar tree, it is called the deity of snake live.
Do you know 12 zodiac animal signs?
This year is “year of snake” in this 12 animals.
So, many people go to pray this cedar tree in this year.

Access
It takes 5minutes from JR Miwa station..
From JR Nara station to Miwa station, it takes 25minutes by JR Sakurai line..

How do you feel Oomiwa shrine?
